Junior Fire Marshal® Program
“We realize the need for fire safety education and the critical importance of partnering with The Hartford on the Junior Fire Marshal program. By tapping into children’s natural curiosity when it comes to fire, we can help build a fire-safe culture in children which will carry through to their families and communities.”

– Battalion Chief Sebastian Carrillo, Birmingham Fire & Rescue Service Department

Deputizing Children Across the Country

Our Junior Fire Marshal Program (JFM) was created in 1947. Since then, we have educated more than 112 million children nationwide.

Making Communities Safer

A home fire starts every 89 seconds, and children are often among the most vulnerable. We partner with fire departments and educators to provide resources and fire safety education to communities with the greatest need based on our home fire index.

Offering Live-Saving Lessons

Our one-of-kind, free fire safety and prevention curriculum can be completed from home or the classroom, helping turn everyday kids into everyday heroes.
