Let me start off by saying this is the best $300 i ever spent, and the price to performance ratio is insane. This console is so important to have in these times of inflation, insanely high pc parts, and hard to get PS5/Series x consoles (although the series x is easier to get than the ps5 now). However i noticed some unrealistic expectations people have for this console.

The series s was always marketed as a budget lower spec'd next-gen console that is a 1440p machine which is half-lie,and half-truth. It's only a 1440p machine if you play at quality mode 30fps but for people that want 60fps it is very much a 1080p machine.

Now the specs of this console is not bad with the cpu being the same as the series x,and ps5 but clocked slower with a much weaker 4 teraflop gpu, but the gpu is not the issue since that can be worked around. It's the abysmally low 8gb of ram (despite having 10gb of ram only 8 of it is able to be utilized in games) which is such a issue even microsoft theirselves had to help with the ram problem. Right now we are in a time where games ship with no 60fps mode on launch and comes with a performance mode later, but as games get more demanding (especially when unreal engine 5 becomes the norm) we can all say goodbye to 60fps modes being the norm, and the cracks are beginning to show.

The console simply isn't on the same level as the x and ps5 so we shouldn't expect it to perform at the same level this entire gen. I see alot of people saying they don't care how low the resolution or graphics settings are as long as the game has 60fps,and that's fine i agree that we should all have the choice to pick between quality or performance modes.

The way i see it however is that since this is a budget console for $300, 30fps is not the end of the world. As long as the 30fps is smooth and consistent with high graphics settings, at least native 1080p, and good frame pacing i am satisfied in perspective to the price it costs, ssd, quick resume, fps boost, backwards compatibility, and ray tracing on some games. It is time we see that if you really want 60fps the whole gen, than your best bet is to upgrade to the series x,Ps5 or pc. I am just grateful that this console exists and feel to be set the whole gen playing new games it will do it's job well, and having a chance to play them.
