Should I Buy This Game?
I just finished Spider-Man and tried playing horizon zero dawn since it is highly spoken about, but I just don't enjoy all the things going on in the game (TONS of side missions, having to be a certain level or the game feels hard so I have to do side things and can't go from main mission to main mission). I liked GOW because while you can walk around the map and get better gear and make the game easier you don't have to. I was thinking of getting Guardians of the Galaxy, since I really enjoyed the movies.
(Going to play Miles Morales after a different game to just give me a small break off spider-man games)
Looking for a new game to play and struggling between both of these games. I loved both GoW & XCOM games so need to be swayed one way or the other.
I'm worried about the Three Houses esq dialog gameplay in Midnight Suns because I could not sit through it with Three Houses.
GoW looks amazing but also just more of the same. Is the story line progress from GoW 2019 worth the purchase? (I have intentionally avoided watching videos about Ragnarok).
This is on PS5 by the way. Thanks!
EDIT: Thanks for all the feedback! I have purchased GoW Ragnarok and will be diving into it tonight. Will be picking up MMS when it's inevitably on sale.
Hi! I am looking for a game that I won’t finish in 1-2 days of playing and can get 100 hours in and have a blast and it not feel repetitive/ “there’s nothing to do”
What I liked: I LOVED elden ring, hollow night, RdR2, Jedi fallen order, BoTW(Amazing stories+beuiftuful game play)
What I didn’t like: Played portal 1+2 but it just wasn’t what I was looking for. I finished it waaay to quick and wasn’t a fan of the levels. (Different game genre I know)
Also did not care for Assains creed odyssey. While the story was interesting at some parts it just felt like chores instead of exploration.
-game with an interesting setting/place that I can explore for hours
-replays!! (Some games there’s just no point in replaying but I’ve replayed all of the games I loved at least twice)
that’s pretty much it, hoping someone else will benefit from this thread as well.
Thanks so much!
So I’m torn between ai somnium files nirvana I am playing the first one but still not done with it and it’s a fun game and I heard good things about the sequel. Also it’s on sale for $41.99 until Dec 5 But I am also curious about Tactics ogre reborn It looks fun and I love SRPGs some of my favorites are Fire emblem and XCOM. Tactics Ogre is $50.
Which is the better option at the moment?
I've been feeling very burnt out on the types of open world games where the just spoon feed you every piece of relevant information, with no thought required by the player. I want a game that requires genuine thought from me to figure out where the task is. I want a game where the tracking mechanic is more in depth than "follow this glowing line". I want a game where there's no quest markers, just hints and context clues, like a note on the ground next to a dead body talking about something I want.
it could be a puzzle game, platformer, shooter, whatever. I have a decently powerful PC and a PS5
Things I like:
must be 3rd person, 1st makes me sick Edit: Some 1st person games are ok, it depends. Nearly all shooters are not though.
basically what's said above
Things I dislike:
2d or pixel art games
I have been playing Elden Ring a lot and have had a blast with. I still need to complete it but i am craving another action filled adventure in an pretty fantasy world. These were the 4 games that have been on my mind for a while. I am unsure on which one to get. I don't mind difficulty at all especially if the combat is fun and the game itself is interesting.
Out of the 4, 3 are Souls Like, but I was also interested in GoW due to its critical acclaim and action filled story. I am unsure on which one to pick up. It also looks really pretty and I have heard has a great story.
Elden Ring was my first souls like game if that helps. The only thing I hate about Elden Ring is that some bosses make you walk so long to get back to fighting them. It gets frustrating after a point, but it is something I can ignore if the game is fun.
RPG elements are fun for me, especially collecting items and leveling up, but I hate long boring grinds.
WSIB based on my tastes?
Another bonus would be if the game runs smoothly on Linux over Proton! I have had to cut corners to get Elden Ring working on my Linux PC, which is why this point could be a nice bonus.
I don't know if this exists, but I've looked for a long time for this type of game. a survival/character management RPG influenced game that's immersive game and has good writing, if possible where your actions impact the story development. But i'm not looking for a Mass Effect clone. Some thoughts:
-I like the idea of Crusader Kings, have played it quite a bit. After a while it just feels kind of random, repetitive, and not immersive.
-i enjoyed rimworld for a bit, but again, it doesnt have an immersive story and starts to just feel random and repetitive with no soul
-FTL has a great balance of things, but i wish the writing and story was more in-depth
-Banner Saga was good but the story engagement and management aspects were shallow
-Alpha Centauri was great but is now very dated
I've looked at Six Ages, but am unsure. Many games in this type of niche seem to have reviews saying the mechanics are deceptive and your input has very little influence over the game/story development. On the other extreme, input can have a big effect, but there's little depth or immersion to what you do. Maybe I'm being way too specific, but have been on the lookout for a game that does all of this super well for years. Any suggestions/discussion would be very welcome.
