I'm constantly having this argument with my friends. It starts when I say that universal access education is a must. Then they go on to say that most people don't want to learn. I keep on trying to prod at them about this assumption because I believe its base on a very egocentric (these friends are intelligent people so I think their ego gets in the way) and pessimistic world view on our fellow people.
I also find it odd that most people will say this without considering that they fall within the confines of "most people" statistically speaking. Why is this thought process perpetuated and where is it coming from?
